'I just got charged with what?!?'

Yes, after over two years, the ethics investigation of Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) has made it to the House floor. Unable to wrangle an 11th hour deal, the embattled former chairman of the powerful, tax-law authoring Ways and Means Committee is facing 13 charges of ethics violations.

Ironically, some of the allegations included tax evasion.

I suppose that when Speaker Nancy Pelosi promised to "drain the swamp" and conduct "the most ethical Congress ever", she didn't expect to see the corpse of the 20-term Democrat from Harlem.

Now, Madame Speaker has tossed Rep. Rangel under her campaign bus and yells 'Sorry Charlie' as she steams towards the mid-terms just three months away.

The all-new Hollywood status symbol is here! The Chevy Volt.

For a mere 41 grand, you too can seem like you care about the environment. Sure it's slick and has zero-tailpipe emissions*, but try getting stuck in rush hour traffic with your 40-mile charge life.

*As long as you don't run out of juice. If you do, you can engage the dirty gasoline powered engine and go for another 300 miles.

The US Government loves its new car and wants everyone to buy one. That's why the car comes with a $7,500 tax credit if you take the plunge. The only problem is that if you do not have a federal tax liability of at least 7500 bucks, you're S.O.L.

So, just like other forms of today's alternative energy, you need a ton of money to shell out so save a little of it.

At least you'll be able to condescendingly sneer at your neighbors as you drive by in you new Volt.

You can tell that the former junior Senator of Massachusetts, John Kerry, is not spending his own money.

The haughty Democrat just laid out a cool $7 million for a 76 foot yacht - which was built in New Zeland. Forget that there are shipbuilders here in the US that could use the work and carbon emissions it takes to move this vessel nearly 10,000 miles.

Kerry did what the limousine liberal set usually do - lecture us about how we live our lives and completely ignore it in theirs. How so? He registered his new yacht in maritime tax haven Newport, RI, thereby skirting his home state tax of $438,000 and an annual excise tax of $70,000.

The focus of the Senator's acquisition has forced Kerry to the stupid thing - pay taxes he does not owe. Yep, bowing to the pressure and media scrutiny, the Senator said he'd pay tax to Massachusetts. The MA department of taxation my be wetting their pants.

You can tell that this guy is nouveau riche by marrying-up into the Heinz fortune - no self-respecting old money man would pay more to the taxman that he owed.

He probably learned a thing or two about wasting other people's money during his 25 years in Washington D.C.

Are you a renegade Apple iPhone user? Upset that you must toe the Apple line or be subject to fines and penalties? The U.S. Government has come to your rescue.

The U.S. Copyright office just revised some policies and one of the major changes will legally allow you to jailbreak your phone. Yes, you can free your iPhone from AT&T and use it on any wireless network.

Good for you. Bad for Apple.

I'm sure that big Obama supporter, Steve Jobs, loved the feeling of being run over by the bus.

Last week, I reported that the Democrat Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand from New York and Robert Menedez and Frank Lautenberg from New Jersey were calling for an investigation into the release of the Lockerbie bomber. Abdel Baset al-Megrahi, who was released last August - because he was purportedly dying of cancer - has passed his expiration date by nine months.

But, instead of focusing on the UK-Lybian connection, the Senators decided to dig for a BP-Lybian connection in an effort to publicly flog the battered oil giant. There was only one hitch: the documents released in conjunction with possible collusion by BP state that the Obama Administration sanctioned the release of al-Megrahi to the Lybians.

Now, we not only see the Senators looking like partisan hacks but as accomplices in knee-capping the President's Administration. The families of the PanAm 103 victims deserve to be livid by this latest injustice.

Granted, she is further along with her venture, The Huffington Post. than I am here at The Energist, but then again, I didn't have an 8-figure cushion to begin with.

Now it looks as though Ms. Huffington is going to trade her L.A. and the Left Coast for new digs here in New York City to physically join the rest of her HuffPo staff. I'm sure she'll fit right in.

In her bid to become a serious online newspaper, does this mean that her politics will flip back from the Left to the Right, too?

You're looking at the ruler of the 3rd largest country - that is, if Facebook were a country.

Behind China and India, Mark Zuckerberg's brainchild just added it's 500 millionth person. Talk about capturing eyeballs.

In an interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer, Zuckerberg really didn't seem to care much about the upcoming Facebookesque movie The Social Network, the claim that someone is entitled to 84% of the company or that we have voluntarily abandoned our privacy to be one of the cool kids.

He looks like a nice kid - the boy next door. Of course, that's what the neighbors always tell the media and the police during the investigation.

A movement gets a voice in the House of Representatives.

Michele Bachmann, R-MN, is the organizer of the new Tea Party Caucus in the House. About two dozen members met for the first time today. Some of the GOP honchos, like Minority Leader John Boehner and Minority Whip Eric Cantor are sitting on the sidelines until they figure out what the caucus could mean to them.

The RNC should take notes; seems like when they are not having accounting problems, they are still in search of direction before the mid-term elections.

Could this be the turning point for the GOP or will they squander another opportunity to sync-up with the population?</itunes:summary>

The cast of Jersey Shore is about to get some MTV stimulus. It's reported that they are close to signing on for about $30,ooo per episode. That's quite a far cry from the $5,000 they made in the first season.

So, as the Shore crew gets a raise, it looks like the unemployed in the country are getting an extension of their benefits to 2 1/2 years. The Senate passed the measure 60-40 and the bill may wind up on President Obama's desk by week's end.

As the Wall Street Journal said today in their Op-Ed on the Obama Administration, "If you can't create any jobs, pay people not to work."</itunes:summary>
