Back in 1968, President Lyndon Johnson reacted to Walter Cronkite’s editorial piece on Report from Vietnam: Who, What, When, Where, Why?.

“If I’ve lost Cronkite, I’ve lost Middle America.”

Cronkite said in essence that the Vietnam War was not winnable. As a proponent of the escalation of the war, Johnson came to the conclusion in the following weeks that his loss that November was already a fait accompli.

Yes, he who lives by the Liberal Media, dies by the same.

Since his debut on the national stage at the Democrat National Convention in 2004, Barack Obama has been the MSM’s golden child. No need to vet Candidate Obama. It was much cooler to vote for a hip black guy rather than some haggard Hillary.

Barack Obama was swept into office in 2008, helped in large part by the complicit media. But as young Barack would soon find out (especially if he asked the mavericky, former-media darling John McCain), fame is fleeting, especially when you don’t pay your tab.

Today, Obama faces a chorus of criticism, and while the conservatives are singing the melody, the liberals have joined in to sing harmony. Heck, Jon Stewart sounds more like Sean Hannity every day. And in recent polling, the only financial demographic that still has a positive majority in support of Obama is the under $24,000 group.

Meanwhile, back at the White House Wednesday evening, the solemn President mumbles while watching Comedy Central:

‘If I’ve lost Stewart, I’ve lost Middle America.’
