An Inconvenient Affair
As posted on Parcbench 15 June 2010
It was just reported by Star Magazine that Al Gore has been in an affair with Laurie David, activist and producer of the documentary, An Inconvenient Truth.
For almost 2 years, I have been blogging and webcasting about the world of politics, news, political correctness and the like. My original premise was ‘no food for fuel’ as I wanted to illustrate the hypocrisy of producing biofuels as a form of green energy while many in this world go hungry.
The subject of my many illustrations has been the former Vice President, Al Gore.
Don’t get me wrong – I think that it is admirable that we all do our part to help the environment like recycle, buy fuel efficient cars and reduce the amount of waste we produce wherever we can. I get it.
The problem I have with Mr. Gore is that he often says one thing and does another; a common trait of those corrupted by DC politics. While we turn our thermostats down, ‘Environment Al’ uses ten times the average energy at his Tennessee mansion.
But wait! He buys CARBON CREDITS (from his own company) to expunge his conscience of guilt. As a token of good faith, he would like to share that guilt with the common man and our opulent lifestyles that are destroying this planet.
(Full disclosure: I went to parochial school for ten years and I know how the guilt game works)
We are expected to believe the great Global Warming lie (which was global cooling 35 years ago) and feel guilty that we only are getting 14 miles to a gallon in our car. Sorry Mr. Vice President, it’s not working for me.
After nearly 2 months of the worst oil spill U.S. history, the Daily Beast cried out to the former Veep ‘where are you, oh carbon avenger??’. Yes, the Beast was calling out Gore the Almighty to come to the aid of the Gulf. His campaign manager from 2000, Donna Brazile, said that he was ‘anti media’ these days. If only Ms. Brazile knew how right she was.
When the mainstrteam media can’t get a real story that they can twist (like Re. Bob Etheridge roughing up a kid journalist), they move to the personal bombshells – Tiger Woods, John Edwards and Nikki Haley.
Well, this one should pose quite a challenge for the MSM.
How do they take on their Global Warming hero and still get a juicy story? Given the fact that Star Magazine broke this oneĀ – much like the MSM ignored the John Edwards fiasco, which was broken by The National Enquirer – who the hell will take the seriously?
We all knew that Edwards was quite the charlatan when he said that he ‘managed a hedge fund so he could learn about the poor’. The same can also be said that Gore was seduced by the Hollywood types that were lining up to kiss his methane maker.
Maybe now some things make sense – the jet-setting, the Cali coastline mansion or the two-month media blackout. I don’t think we have heard the last from the former Vice President, but I’m sure that Tipper’s share of the divorce settlement just increased.
