NY/NJ to host ‘The Chilly Bowl’
As posted at Parcbench on 25 May 2010
Or at least, East Rutherford New Jersey has.
In February 2014, the site of the Super Bowl will be played in the shadow of New York City. The NFL owners voted today to award the Giants & Jets new home the half-billion dollar bonanza.
Today’s New York Post called it The Chilly Bowl, rightfully so, because it will be the first Super Bowl played in an open-air stadium in a non-sunbelt city. If anyone reveres pro football, this is the closest thing to the “frozen tundra of Lambeau Field” Super Bowl since the 1960′s.
Jimmy Hoffa may not be able to watch this one from the end zone (because the former Giants Stadium is being razed as I type) but 80,000 loyal football fans wishes have come true.
