Ronald Reagan at the Berlin Wall Brandenburg Gate

The Berlin Wall fell 20 years ago. I was thrilled to know that my soon-to-be-born daughter would never know a world with this symbol of oppression.

Twenty years later, German Chancellor Angela Merkel was thanking Mikhail Gorbachev for taking the wall down. President Barack Obama was conspicuously absent with the exception of a taped appearance on the jumbo screens. I suppose there was no reason to get a photo op at the gate seeing that he already won the election.

The two great leaders that stood firm while the rest of the world capitulated were President Ronald Reagan and British Prim Minister Margaret Thacher.

I will make sure that no amount of revisionist history will wipe these to great leaders from the story about the fall of Communism.
