Thanks to strong-arming by the United States and our socialist allies in Latin America, former president Manuel Zelaya will be restored to power – for another five weeks.
The US and other nations would not recognize constitutional action by the government of Honduras to remove Zelaya earlier this year for attempting to tamper with the constitution (as instructed by Venezuelan strongman, Hugo Chavez). The authorization by the supreme court of Honduras of the military was considered constitutional but his exile to another country was not. Foreign objectors, including the Obama Administration, called Zelaya’s removal by the military a coup.
Once again, the Obama White House insists on embracing the wrong side of history.
