Rush is on the Job
When I heard Rush Limbaugh’s show today, he spoke of a possible run on the nations banks on September 18, 2008. Limbaugh suggests that it may have been an individual (Soros) or a consortium of persons/nations looking to destabilize the US economy.
Rush referred to a clip from C-Span featuring Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-PA) speaking about the current stimulus bill. During the interview, Rep. Kanjorski speaks of the drawdown of funds from US banks on September 18 – just 7 weeks before the election. The drawdown of $550 billion dollars in a matter of 1 to 2 hours caused the Fed to pump in over $100 billion of funds to banks insure liquidity. The decision was made to close the ‘window’ – knowing at the rate the funds were flowing out, a possible $5 trillion may have been requested by day’s end.
On September 17th – the day before the ‘run’ – according to the Real Clear Politics composite poll, McCain and Obama were tied with 45.7% of the vote. The next day, Obama pulled ahead by 2 full points and never relinquished his lead and rode to victory on Election Day.
Could something like this be true, let alone even possible?
My wife remembered a film in the early 80′s which had the same kind of theme. After a few minutes of research, we came up with the film: Rollover, starring Jane Fonda and Kris Kristofferson. The basic premise was a consortium of Arab states were going to crash the US economy. Maybe I don’t give Jane Fonda enough credit.
Here is a clip from the movie. It was released 28 years ago, but the words ring with an eerie familiarity.
Now that Rush brought the issue to the forefront – and alerted his 20 million listeners, will anything be done by those in our government to get to the bottom of alleged this attack?
