Is personal aviation coming to your driveway?

As I approach the half-century mark, I have reason to be skeptical. Does anyone remember the jet pack, a la The Rocketeer? My point exactly. Really, I’d love to see science and technology meet transportation, but I think that there may be too many rules and regs that ground this idea. And let’s not forget the carbon footprints! Environmentalists and cost-justification may kill the idea even sooner.

Now, if this is a lower-cost alternative to mid-size company execs who cannot afford to lay out $2k per hour for a fractional ownership of a small corporate jet. But hey – you never know. A couple of years back, Mojave Aerospace Ventures built a personal spacecraft and won a $10 million prize!
