Another Reason to be Bummed – Low Gas Prices

The mainstream media (MSM) are at it again.

We were unpatriotic if we didn’t buck up and pay more taxes like Joe Biden said.

We were racist if we didn’t vote Obama.

Is there another reason to saddle ourselves with guilt? Of course.

Today – it’s low gas prices. I’m not kidding.

I bought regular gas today for $1.99/gallon. First time it’s been this low for almost two years. I paid HALF of what I did just 4 months ago. And I’m supposed to feel bad?

Calculator time: I filled up for $32. The same fill-up was $60. That’s a $28 difference. I fill up about once a week on average, so let’s multiply $28 x 52 weeks. That’s a difference of $1456. A lotta ‘scarole.

Now, am I going to rush out and joyride? No way! This is my own form of personal stimulus. I will spend the money in other directions and keep it in the economy. I’m sure many commuters have seen their gas bills go down as well. All this windfall must be suppressed somehow.

Enter the MSM. With low gasoline prices, we might see some people drive more. Perhaps. They may not buy hybrids. Bad for Toyota and Honda. Worse for GM and Ford (maybe because their hybrid choices suck – in plain English) With the American driver falling back into his or her old bad habits, there may be more (insert creepy music here – duh, duh, duhhhh) greenhouse gasses emitted.

I don’t know about the rest of the country, but here in NJ, we have many other ways to spend our hard-earned money as we see fit. After all, the free-spending Congress has no problem with $10 trillion in national debt, a possible $1 trillion deficit for fiscal 2009 and a bad case of bailout-itis. The complicit MSM then aims to keep us in check by telling us the lower energy costs are actually BAD for us.
