I had written about Senate Leader Harry Reid’s ploy to restrict oil shale production in the US. It was hidden in an appropriations bill and Senator Reid figured no one would notice.

Wrong!

The good senator decided to park the wording smack-dab in the middle of a pork-laden appropriations bill, timed just for the re-election season and the Congress heads home.

The Senate could not get enough votes to advance. So much for the best laid plans.

I have been watching the actions of Senator Reid, along with many leaders in the Democratic Party these past few days. What gets me is that I would never think that the President was a lame duck and the Republicans were a minority in the House and Senate.

In an election year, it seems that the will of the people is more important than some partisan hack blabber at a time we could use some decisive leadership.
