How many years have solar panels been in existence? According to BlurtIt.com, the first silicon solar cell was invented by Russell Ohl in 1941. For the next 67 years, solar cells have been soaking up visible light.

So, along comes a 12 year-old and asks ‘why does a solar cell only absorb visible light and not UV light?’

Inspired by this burning question, William Yuan may have revolutionized an industry.
