Let the games begin!

I won’t lie…I’m not sure how much Olympic coverage I may soak up. It’s not that I don’t like sports, or the Olympics, per se. What gets me are those ‘soft focus’ Bob Costas athlete profiles. It’s like a talking Hallmark card. Makes me want to hurl.

People who love sports – LOVE SPORTS. As a male, I think I have a gene which controls that, but in the past 20 years, I have met more sports fanatics who are women. They love the game, not the soft side. I find it somewhat patronizing that TV execs feel they have to play to the softer side of the athlete than the games themselves.

My two cents – leave the interviews to Oprah and Tyra and let the games and athletes provide the content.
